Silent Hill f will be released on 25 September by Chinese studio NeoBards Entertainment. Despite the team's mixed experience in creating large projects, gaming journalists gave the game 86 points on Metacritic and 87 on OpenCritic. Critics praise the Japanese setting, creepy atmosphere and interesting challenges. The foggy city will take on new colours and refresh the horror genre in the modern gaming industry.
Silent Hill brings the action of the famous survival horror series to 1960s Japan. Players will control Hinako Shimizu in the small mountain town of Ebisu Gaoka, which is suddenly enveloped in a mystical fog and turns into a real nightmare. The main character will have to make her way through the transformed city, solve complex puzzles, and fight terrifying creatures in order to survive.
The game's script was written by the famous creator Ryukishi07, known for his work on various visual novels and mystical stories. The developers have created a deep psychological drama, where every line spoken by Hinako's friends and the eerie events surrounding the main character will keep players in constant suspense. The central mystery will be the nature of the strange phenomena that occur — are they real, do they exist in Hinako's imagination, or are they related to ancient local beliefs?
The team worked separately on the soundtrack – the compositions were created with Japanese traditions in mind, and Akira Yamaoka, who has spent many years working fruitfully with the Silent Hill series, participated in the creation of the soundtrack.
Neobards Entertainment implemented a non-linear ending system. The first playthrough will end with a predetermined ending, but starting with the second, players will be able to influence the outcome of the story with their decisions. In total, the game features five different endings, encouraging replayability to fully uncover the mystery of Ebisuoka.
Silent Hill f will be released on 25 September on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
